From our mindfully crafted pieces to our commitment to creating beautiful designs, Bordelle believes in acting with intention. That’s why, since 2021, we’ve partnered with CleanHub to help protect our oceans and waterways. CleanHub is a Berlin-based environmental tech company that collects plastic waste in places where there is no proper waste management. To date, we are proud to share that this collaboration has enabled us to collect and process 11,221 kg of plastic waste.
Why We Partnered with CleanHub
Plastic pollution damages marine ecosystems, especially in coastal regions lacking proper waste management infrastructure. CleanHub intercepts plastic waste right at the source, preventing it from ever reaching the sea and waterways. As a slow fashion brand committed to low-waste practices, CleanHub’s model aligns perfectly with our ethos.
Our work with CleanHub focuses on the Clean Kerala initiative in India. Kerala’s stunning coastlines face immense pressure from unmanaged plastic waste. Plastic waste is often dumped, burned, or carried by Kerala’s dense river network into the Arabian Sea. This has a huge impact on the surrounding ecosystems and communities. Through Clean Kerala, there is now regular waste collection in areas like Konad, Kasargod, and Thamarassery. This prevents plastic waste from being dumped into nature and swept out to sea.
Traceability + Social Impact
As an eco-conscious brand, transparency matters to us, which is another reason we chose to partner with CleanHub. Their Track & Trace technology logs and verifies every kilogram collected, giving us verified data behind every kg of our 11,221 kg milestone.
What we also love about this partnership is that its impact reaches far beyond the environment. By establishing stable, fair-wage jobs with safe working conditions, CleanHub empowers local communities, like the women leading collection efforts in Kerala.
